Blood specimen of the teenager accused in rape and subsequent murder of Bhagarathi Bhatta of Baitadi district has been sent to a forensic laboratory in Kathmandu for the DNA test.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Narayan Prasad Adhikari at Baitadi District Police Office (DPO), blood sample of Dinesh Bhatta has been sent to a lab in Kathmandu.
The Sudurpaschim Police on February 17 made public Dinesh, a 17-year-old school fellow of Bhagarathi, who confessed to police that he raped Bhatta and killed her out of a desire for vengeance.
Bhagarathi of (Katola), Chadepani in Dogdakedar Rural Municipality-7 of Baitadi district was found dead with bruises all over her body with the strangulated neck in Lawalek forest on February 4.
Earlier, the vaginal swabs of the rape victim had been sent to the laboratory in Kathmandu on February 8. Meanwhile, Dinesh is in police custody in connection with the crime.
The Baitadi District Court has extended the judicial custody of Dinesh by five days for the third time.
DSP Adhikari informed that police have almost concluded the investigation except for the DNA test.
The accused will be produced before the court within a few days, he said.
