Bodies of missing couple found buried in Maottari

A couple who had gone missing from their sleep at their home since February 22 has been found dead.

The decomposed bodies of Musafir Jha, 65, and his wife Geeta Devi Jha, 58, resident of Pipara Rural Municipality-5, Mahottari district were found this afternoon wrapped in a plastic sack and buried in the Pipara-Dhirapur road section in ward no. 2 of the same municipality. The bodies were identified by their son Manish Kumar Jha by the clothes and ornaments they were wearing, Deputy Inspector General of Province no. 2 Dhiraj Pratap Singh said.

The bodies were recovered as an excavator was being used to work on the under-construction road. The bodies have been sent to the forensic laboratory for necessary examination.

Police had been carrying out a search for the missing couple, during which a search was carried out in 42 ponds in the district while almost 50 persons were interrogated.

Police have already arrested four persons on the charge of involvement in the incident. Further investigation is underway.
