Body of child found in septic tank in Sarlahi

The body of a child who has been missing for five days from Gamhariya in Sarlahi has been found in a septic tank of a neighbour's house.

The body of Mithu alias Akash Thakur, the 10-year-old son of Jitendra Thakur, who went missing from Gamhariya in Malangwa Municipality-12, was found in the septic tank of his neighbor Jagdish Thakur this morning.

Aakash had been missing since 8 pm on Sunday. The family of the deceased had informed the District Police Office of Sarlahi about the disappearance of the child at 11 pm on the same night. The boy's body has been brought to the provincial hospital in Malangwa for autopsy. Police have arrested Jagdish Thakur and seven members of his family on the charge of involvement in the murder of the child, said Madhav Prasad Budhathoki, Deputy Superintendent of Police, District Police Office, Sarlahi. He said that further investigation is underway into the incident.

After the police team deployed to investigate the incident arrested Jagdish Thakur and interrogated him, he showed the body of the boy, said Ward Chairman of Malangwa-12 Gamhariya Ram Darsh Roy. Jagadish's family had taken the boy hostage and killed him on the upper floor of their house three days ago and hid the body in a sack in a safety tank, said Ward Chairman Roy.

He informed that the body of the boy was found hidden inside the safety tank and covered with mud. "A ransom of Rs 1.5 million was also demanded from the family of the deceased child," he said.

The mother is now unconscious after hearing about her son's murder, undergoing treatment at Om Hospital in Malang.
