Finance Minister Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat has claimed that budget allocated for three district was not large in size.
Responding the queries raised in course of deliberations on the budget for coming fiscal year 2023/24 in today's meeting of the House of Representatives, Finance Minister Mahat mentioned, "Total Rs 123 billion was allocated towards capital expenditure for the Ministry of Physical Infrastructures and Transport. So the budget allocated for three districts was not large in size."
He clarified that the ministry had to increase budget for road projects on the basis of necessity as some of the hilly districts still do not have basic road infrastructures. The Finance Minister further said sufficient amount of budget has also been allocated in Madhes Province.
Minister Mahat shared, "Adequate budget has been allocated for national pride projects and big projects in Madhes Province including East-West highway, Pathalaiya-Birgunj corridor, Chandrapur-Gaur highway, postal highway, Sunkoshi Marin Diversion Project."
Saying sufficient budget has also been allocated for Tarai/Madhes-Kathmandu fast track, he viewed that a large space of budget is allocated in social security, education and health sectors of Madhes Province.
