Speaker of Madhes Province Assembly, Ram Chandra Mandal, has expressed worry over eroding quality of community school and college in the province.
Inaugurating the fourth senate of Janata Multiple Campus at Bardibas in the district on Saturday, Speaker Mandal viewed it was challenging for community schools and colleges to regain trust by ensuring quality education. "Although there is huge investment of State on community school and college, why people's trust is elusive in this sector," he wondered, adding that even the generous people had extended support to the community schools. But, positive result is awaited, he reiterated.
Speaker Mandal also pointed out the need for revising education system.
"Now, community schools have good infrastructures as buildings, but why private schools and college are attracting more students," he questioned, urging all three levels of governments to seek answer. He however said at a time when other community colleges were losing credibility, emergence of Janata Multiple Campus as an institute of excellence is exemplary in Madhes Province.
On the occasion, Campus Chief Top Bahadur Thakuri informed there were 1,139 students in the college, among which, girls students comprises 50 percent. He claimed that the college is an educational destination for the students from rural areas.
The college has been running BBS and BEd programmes since 2064BS and MEd since 2075BS. The two-story college building has 32 classrooms.
Students' fee is the sole income of college. Speakers at the programme said time had come to seek additional sources of income for colleges.
