Cheque bounce cases on rise in Chitwan

The number of cheque bounces is increasing in the Chitwan district of late. A total of 211 complaints have been filed at the Banking Fraud and Crime Investigation Branch established in November 2022.

According to the District Police Office, of the complaints, 67 cases were filed. The spokesperson at the District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Bijay Raj Pandit, said of the 67 cases, 26 cases were settled.

He shared some three cases of cheque bounce are registered every day.

Pandit further said banking fraud is increasing in society as a number of people think cheques of little value is on the rise in recent period.
