President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said that children are the buds of creation who give continuity to life and humanity, and creative children are the ray of hope for the future. On the occasion of the Children's Day today, the President said so while urging all to ensure a child-friendly society for the overall development of children. "I urge all the children who are in the crucial stage of their personality development for their participation in the extra activities through discipline and hard work," the President called upon.
Expressing pleasure for the opportunity to meet children at the Office of the President on the occasion of Children's Day, President Bhandari said that the family, school and the nation should pay attention to the children's participation since they are the responsible citizens of the future. President Bhandari recalled that the government has launched a street-children free national campaign while Child Helpline 1098 and many other provisions for the protection of the children. She stressed that additional awareness-raising programmes were needed for the protection of the children.
During the programme organised by Nepal Children's Organisation, the President said that the government has paid attention to ensure education, health care, nutrition for the children. On the occasion, the President gave away prizes and certificates to the students who won in painting, children's song, poems and dance competitions. Also speaking at the programme, Secretary at the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizen Yam Kumari Khatiwada said that the local levels are carrying out efforts for the children's protection with the country going into federal setup. "The government is effortful for the children's protection. This year, 3,000 missing children were traced and reunited with their families.
Likewise, the Chairperson of Nepal Children's Organisation Bidya Upadhyay said that the protections and education provision to orphan children is ensured.
