With the increase in the number of prisoners in the prison office, Chitwan, the prison administration has transferred 15 female prisoners. They have been sent to Bhimphedi Jail in Makwanpur.
According to the head of the office, Kamal Prasad Acharya, they were transferred after reaching 68 people in the women's prison, which has a capacity of 25 prisoners. Along with this, now there are 52 people in the women's prison here. They have four dependent children. He said that they were transferred on December 12.
They have been transferred after the construction of a new inmate home for women in Bhimphedi Jail. Earlier, there was no women's prison in Makwanpur. Because of this, the prison office was sent to Chitwan from there. There are currently 728 male prisoners in the prison office Chitwan. With a capacity of 255 people, the inmate population is high in this male prison.
As there is no prison office in the neighboring district of Nawalpur, the pressure has increased because the prisoners from there also come here. A few months ago, 55 were transferred as the number of male prisoners increased. He informed us that with the increase in colds, the inmates in the prison had a cough problem, but it was managed internally.
