Communication Bill has ensured constitutional rights: Minister Ghimire

Minister for Transport Management and Communication Upendra Prasad Ghimire said that the bill was introduced to manage the state media with the objective of ensuring freedom of thought and expression and the right of citizens to be informed.

 Speaking at a press conference held at the Ministry today, he said that the bill provides for the development, promotion and regulation of independent, fair, dignified, professional and accountable media.

 He said that any shortcomings or errors in the act would be rectified through debates, discussions and parliamentary discussions, adding that the state government would soon implement electronic system in the transport sector.

 Minister Ghimire said that the people have been facing many problems in the transport sector, adding that the government has a plan to facilitate the service providers. He said that there was no alternative but to make timely reforms in such bodies to help in revenue collection and added that the government would bring Road Safety Act to reduce road accidents.

 He said that the city safari and tempo would be renewed and registered at the local level.

 He informed that necessary discussions and preparations are being made to beautify the city and make arrangements for proper parking to reduce road accidents. Secretary for Transport Management and Communications Jayakumar Ghimire also discussed various aspects of the bill.
