Parliamentarians representing the Nepali Congress (NC) have voiced concern over the arrest of its lawmaker Dr Sunil Sharma.
In today's meeting of the NC parliamentary party meeting, some Members of Parliament (MPs) commented that Dr Sharma's arrest might have taken place in retaliation of his voice against gold smuggling scam noting the arrest was referring to the case that was of 7-8 years back.
Chief whip of the NC parliamentary party Ramesh Lekhak had shared updated information about the arrest of its lawmaker Sharma, informed parliamentarian Dilliraj Pant.
On the occasion, MPs had also put their views about disruption of parliamentary proceedings, bills under consideration and requiring deliberations in the parliament, implementation of budget and role of NC in the parliament.
Also on the occasion, parliamentarians raised the issues of floods and landslides across the country, dengue outbreak, lumpy skin infection, conjunctivitis prevention and control, price inflation and good governance.
Some 18 lawmakers had articulated their views in the meeting. Next meeting will take place at 1.00 pm on Sunday, the party office sources said. ---
