KATHMANDU: A cookbook 'The Mystic Kitchen of Nepal' written by a noted gourmet and chef Bikram Vaidya has been made public on Friday.
The cookbook was released by Minister for Health and Population, Pradeep Paudel, amidst a programme. In the programme, Minister Paudel expressed belief that the book would contribute significantly to promote Nepali food culture and cookery in the international arena.
The food is not only for sustaining life but also for one's health, culture and tradition, he said, adding that such books play significant parts for protection of Nepali food culture. He thanked the writer for producing such seminal text.
Similarly, Vice Chairman of Nepal Tourism Board, Ram Prasad Sapkota, said the book was a contribution to Nepal's cultural tourism.
Writer Vaidya has brought forth this book with his two decades' of practice, experience and research on cookery.
The book written in English medium had already been released in the US. It was also listed for the competition in James Bread Award.
The text has included over 140 types of Nepali recipes with brief cultural and historic mention.
