The counting of votes has become uncertain after a scuffle broke out between Nepali Congress ward chairman candidate Gopal Thapa in Dhurkot village municipality-4 of Gulmi.
An all-party meeting could not be held in Dhurkot while counting of votes was going on in other municipalities of the district. Thapa was injured in a clash between UCPN-M and UML cadres at Palika Kendra Barbot on Friday evening. Along with Thapa, Niranjan Kunwar and Sanjay Nepali of Jaisithok were also injured in the clash. The injured have been shifted to Gulmi District Hospital for treatment. According to Superintendent of Police Bhim Bahadur Dahal, five persons from Dhurkot Rajasthal and one each from Gulmi Durbar have been arrested. According to Election Officer Muna Poudel, the all-party meeting has not started yet.
He informed that an all-party meeting should have been held between the parties that signed the agreement but the meeting could not be held due to non-arrival of a representative from the Nepali Congress. It is said that efforts are being made for an all-party meeting now.
