The Ministry of Health and Population recorded a total of 968 new cases of coronavirus on Friday. It is nearly double the coronavirus infection recorded in 24 hours.
On Thursday, 540 cases of coronavirus were reported by the Ministry. The Friday cases were recorded after conducting tests among 14,971 people- 8,272 underwent PCR tests and 6,699 the antigen.
In the last 24 hours, 262 people got recovery from the coronavirus infection. With this, the total recovery reached 813,709. The recovery rate is 97.9 percent.
The total infection rate is 16.9 percent.
Similarly, 263,371 persons were vaccinated against COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. Currently, the number of active infections is 5,741.
There is no death caused by a coronavirus in the reporting period. The number of deaths caused by the contagion has so far been 11,602 in the country. The fatality rate is 1.4 percent.
Moreover, 15 persons have been receiving treatment with ventilator support while 81 in ICU.
The districts having more than 500 infected persons are Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur. Similarly, Sunsari, Kaski, Banke and Kailali have more than 200 coronvirus infected persons. Those with zero cases are Rasuwa, Manang, Mustang, Humla and Mugu districts.
Kathmandu district has the highest number of infections- 1,454, the Ministry added.
