The CPN (Unified Socialist) has decided to proceed with unification with the political parties sharing similar political ideology and policies.

Party Chair and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal revealed this while taking to media Friday at the New Baneshwor-based Federal Parliament Building. As he said, the party planned to merge and to have an alliance with those parties having similar thoughts and visions.

“In the first round, we are expected to sit for talks with the Janata Samajbadi Party, touching issues ranging from collaboration to unification. Discussions with other parties will go through various levels and dimensions,” he said.

Stating that the party was in a broader campaign of its further strengthening and expansion, the leader said the party would focus on voicing people’s issues.

In his response to a query about the party’s position in regard with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’s schedule to seek a vote of confidence, he said he personally was positive towards the Prime Minister and the party’s gesture for him would be determined by the government performance ahead.

With the elections to the House of Representatives and Province Assembly already on November 20, the session of the House of Representatives will be commencing on January 9 and the Prime Minister appointed in accordance with the Article 76 (2) of the Constitution is scheduled to seek a vote of confidence in the lower house on January 10.
