Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Juli Kumari Mahato has said that the decision requiring women below 40 years to present recommendation from the local level and family for visit VISA was not taken by the government.
Speaking at an interaction organised by the Ministry in Kathmandu today, she said that there is no truth behind the media reports about women below 40 requiring approval to go on a foreign visit. "It was only a discussion made by individuals, and efforts have been made to malign the government in bad light," she asserted.
A demonstration took place outside the Department of Immigration today citing that the Department had made a proposal to the Ministry of Home Affairs to apply such a provision.
The DoI has however made it clear that the rule would apply for only gulf countries and Africa, as many women were going on a visit VISA and ending up working there inviting risks.
