It is said that about 400 households in Deurali are at risk due to the Madiseti River cutting the banks.
The locals are demanding timely embankment in the area. Chairman of the local Namaste Deurali Youth Club Til Bahadur Thapa informed that the Byas Municipality-3 has been requested to embank the river to protect the settlement.
The local Namaste Deurali Youth Club has also built a seven-a-side football field on the banks of the river. He said that the playground was constructed with the financial assistance of the Byas Municipal Office and the locals.
After the construction of the playground in the area, the youth of the area have started playing football and volleyball enthusiastically. Local Baburam Bagale informed that the concerned bodies have been requested to pay attention in time as the playgrounds and settlements of Deurali could be damaged by the river.
According to the locals, an embankment along the river bank is believed to help protect playgrounds and settlements. He said that the playground has been constructed by protecting the public land being used by the people with the active participation of the people of Deurali.
The Byas Municipal Office has been showing interest in the protection of the settlement. The Madiseti River flows between Rishing Municipality and Byas Municipality. There is a plan to build an embankment on the bank of the Madiseti River in coordination with the Rishing Municipality, said Byas Municipal Chief Baikuntha Neupane.
