Minister of Economic Affairs and Planning Kiran Gurung of Gandaki Province tabled a proposal in the meeting of the province assembly today, seeking the house initiate discussions on the principles and priorities of the Appropriation Bill for the Fiscal Year 2021/22.
Taking part in the discussions, lawmakers expressed their views on the upcoming budget. Most of the ruling party lawmakers argued that the budget’s priorities had incorporated the major issues and policies while opposition lawmakers argued that there was no meaning of moving ahead as the government was not taking the vote of confidence in the House.
Lawmaker Mayanath Adhikari said that the policy and programme of the budget was in line to meet the happy citizens: prosperous province campaign. Another lawmaker Prakash Chandra Dawadi argued that the budget should focus to save the lives of the people in this hour of pandemic.
Lawmakers Krishna Bahadur Thapa, Bindu Kumar Thapa, Aasha Koirala, Dhananjay Dawadi, Lalitkala Gurung, Lekh Bahadur Thapa, Mina Gurung, Rajiv Pahari, Mekhlal Shrestha, Min Prasad Gurung, Manibhadra Kandel had participated in the discussion today.
The assembly will again meet at 1:00 pm on Wednesday.
