The editor/publisher of New Online has committed to do journalism in such a way that there is no violation of journalistic code of conduct. They have also maintained their determination towards the Press Council Nepal that they are focused on being responsible to the people by doing journalism in a balanced and reliable manner. They expressed such commitment and determination after the 31st journalist code of conduct orientation class held by the council on Tuesday.
The council has been monitoring with regular orientation to make journalists aware of the code of conduct, professional obligations and responsibilities before the online media is put into operation. In the orientation class, the chairman of the council, Balkrishna Basnet, said that it is not a big thing to start a new media, and he said that if the public's trust is not won, the whole profession should be aware that it will be in crisis.
"We have registered a new media. Don't think that it will happen no matter how we proceed. The responsibility has increased, from today we must be able to write news in a way that wins the hearts and trust of the people. If not, the sad days will begin," he said. He mentioned that if journalism is done within the bounds of the basic values, beliefs and ethics of journalism, it will be successful and the profession will also be limited.
Bipul Pokharel, President of Federation of Nepalese Journalists FNJ, also subject expert, gave training on the provisions of Journalist Code of Conduct 2073B.S. He clarified about 14 points that journalists should not do. President Pokhrel drew attention to the fact that journalists should communicate the news that is born in the society, keeping in mind the value of journalism.
Deepak Khanal, senior administrative officer and spokesperson of Council, gave information about child-friendly, disability-friendly, women's communication and senior citizen-friendly communication guidelines. Co-Administrative Officer Ram Sharan Bohra facilitated the orientation of the participants of 35 online media.
