The driver's license card, which has been halted for a long time due to technical problems, will arrive within45 days. The card could not be received for a long time as the card did not fit in the mass printer.
The Department of Transportation has stated that the problem has arisen as the 'mass printer' was purchased from one company and the card was purchased from another company. Director General Namaraj Ghimire said that they have been asked to bring the card as it is now available in mass printers. He said, "We are in talks with the company to bring the card."
According to the first agreement of the driver's license, 1.4 million should come. The department is going to facilitate to bring it soon. Director-General Ghimire said that the problem will be removed immediately after the arrival of 1.4 million cards and care will be taken not to repeat the same problem in the coming days.
About half of the cards will have to be printed now after they arrive at the department. He said that care will be taken to prevent the problem of licenses in the coming days as well. In the past, there were technical problems, so now when contracting, those things are taken into consideration.
The 'smart' driver's license, which was introduced for the convenience of the service recipients, is not working as expected. Due to various problems, the service recipients are not able to get the license on time. Previously, due to the limited capacity of the equipment, the service recipients could not get the license on time.
Two years ago, the department had brought large capacity equipment (mass printer) and 1 million cards from the same contract. That card now has only a couple of thousand left. Due to a lack of cards, the department is printing licenses only for those who are in dire need. The transport offices have started issuing temporary driver's licenses for one year.
