Ajaymeru Rural Municipality has reaffirmed its commitment to eliminate Violence Against Women (VAW) for which initiation should start from each household, it said.
In the course of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, the local level in Dadeldhura district is organizing various events aimed at raising awareness on women empowerment to eliminate VAW.
Towards this, Ajaymeru rural municipality vice-chairperson Nirjala Bogati asserted that efforts should be made in families at homes to prevent VAW.
Advocate Yuwaraj Joshi shared that engaging rural women and young girls in awareness drive helps them to be free from gender-based violence. According to him, cases of VAW, caste-based discrimination and domestic violence were rife in many places in the district.
In ward no 3, women were imparted training on women rights, human rights and fundamental rights. Rally and interaction programmes are being organized.
The Activism is an annual international campaign that begins on November 25, the International day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and runs through December 10, marking International Human Rights Day.
