The family of Chitra Bahadur Rana, who died after being
electrocuted, has agreed to receive Rs 1.6 million in compensation. An agreement to this effect was reached between the Forum for Rural Infrastructure and Environment Development and the family of the victim.
Rana of Shuklagandaki Municipality in Tanahu district was burnt to death after being
electrocuted while charging his mobile phone, it has been suspected. He was found semi-conscious in his own bedroom with his right hand, mobile phone, and a charger burnt. Rana was declared dead at GP Koirala National Centre for Respiratory Disease.
The victim's family blamed negligence on the part of the
electric management committee for Rana's death. They refused to receive the body of Rana in protest and demanded Rs 2.5 million in compensation. Two other persons were also injured in the incident. The Committee will cover treatment bills of the injured ones.
