Results of the second phase of the Korean language test under production sector under the Employment Permit System (EPS) has been published.

Out of the total 18,043 candidates, 8,785 passed the test held from September 5 to November 7, said the EPS Korea section, the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security. A total of 18,595 applications were filed for the exams.

The language exam for 2023 under production will take place a bit late—only after the two-thirds of those, who are on the waiting list after passing the first and second phases of the language tests, fly to Korea, said Pushpa Raj Katuwal, director of the EPS Korea section. Under production, there are a total of 15,927 people, who are on the waiting list after passing the exams, to fly to Korea, he said.

The language test for 2023 (towards agriculture) will be held in coming December-January. Over 50 percent among those qualified in the 2022 test (agriculture), have already received the employment agreement. “Some 1500 have already got the employment contract while remaining others have been waiting for the papers,” director Katuwal said.

South Korea remains as one of the preferred labour destinations for Nepali. Nepal and Korea had in 2008 agreed on the EPS.

Since the implementation of the Agreement, around 77 thousand Nepalis have reached the South Korea in connection of jobs. At the moment, 40 thousand are employed at different sectors there. Nepal is listed in the second number among the countries sending workers to the South Korea while Cambodia holds the first position.
