Minister for Education, Science and Technology Ashok Kumar Rai has assured that concerns related to increasing facilities for child education teachers and staffers in the community schools will be addressed once the Federal Education Act comes into effect.
Minister Rai said so while responding to the queries raised by parliamentarians' on the Ministry's upcoming fiscal year's budget under the Appropriation Bill-2080 BS here today. A four-member talks committee has been formed to resolve these issues.
Stating that the vocation and technical education reform programmes were being implemented at present, he shared that technical trainings and training for teachers were also put in place to enhance quality of education as well as to produce skilled human resources in the teaching sector.
According to him, various progammes were being implemented in coordination with three-tier governments for reforming education sector and to enhance quality of education.
Furthermore, the Minister said although the education sector received 11.27 per cent of the total proposed budget (RS 1.751 trillion) for the upcoming fiscal year 2023/24 which was not adequate, education reform programmes would be continued within the parameters of the available resources.
The Minister said that the 'Learning by Earning' programme would be expanded to additional 50 schools in the upcoming fiscal year.
The programme aims to attract students in agriculture since school level and educates them about modern farming. Furthermore, initiatives would be taken to implement academic calendar of the government universities in the country, reforming examination system there and encourage research-oriented higher education among the students.
The draft of the Federal Education Act was already endorsed by Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs as well as Ministry of Finance, the Minister appraised the parliamentarians adding that it would be presented to the parliament very soon.
Preparation was afoot to announce vacancy for teachers and works are underway to adjust and add positions for teachers.
