The farmers in Doti are a worried lot at the moment because the plantation season has already begun but they still have not received chemical fertilisers. The farmers are angry over the fact that fertlisers are never made available on time during the plantation season. It has been months since they have been waiting for the commodity but even after the plantation season has started the district still faces a shortage of chemical fertilisers.
The branch of the Agriculture Inputs Company Ltd in Dipayal has stated that the fertilisers could not be transported to the district on time due to the restrictions imposed on vehicular movement during the prohibitory order. The Provincial Agriculture Directorate has informed that plantation is being done on 10,898 hectares of land in the district at the moment.
The local farmers have blamed the Agriculture Inputs Company for the shortage of chemical fertlisers. They have said that since the company did not start the process to buy and transport the fertilisers to the district on time there has been a shortage. Farmers have also mentioned that they have not been able to use fertilisers on the agriculture land where plantation was completed last month.
Meanwhile, the Dipayal office of Agriculture Inputs Company has said that they have not been able to supply the needed quantity of fertilisers because even their provincial office in Kailali does not have enough fertilisers.
