Executive Chair of Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), the National News Agency, Dharmendra Jha has underscored on celebrating festivals like Dashain, Tihar, Nepal Sambat, Chhath and others as occasions for enhancing cultural unity and social amity.
The news agency chief said so while addressing a programme of exchanging best wishes on the occasion of the Bada Dashain, Deepawali, Nepal Sambat, Chhath and other festivals, organised by the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), RSS chapter today.
He said there should not be discrimination among the festivals as all the festivals observed in Nepal have the same cultural significance.
"Dashain is an important festival, a festival never discriminates, but it is we who have discriminatory thinking and attach less significance to other festivals compared to Dashain," he said, adding that we seek happiness in the celebration of cultural festivals. The festivals have a notable role in enhancing family reunion and mutual goodwill, while festivals including Dashain contribute to promoting unity, social goodwill and brotherhood among the Nepalis, he said.
Stating that journalists have increased responsibility of disseminating news and information to make the citizens well-informed during festivals like Dashain, Chair Jha urged the news agency's employees to internalize their professional responsibilities even more during the festivals.
On the occasion, the RSS Chair offered his best wishes for the good health, happiness and continued progress of all the employees of the news agency and their family.
RSS Deputy General Manager Shyam Prasad Rimal, FNJ RSS Chapter president Pabitra Guragain, RSS Employees' Organisation president Prem Prasad Upadhyay, RSS Employees Union president Kalika Khadka and RSS Employees Association general-secretary CB Adhikari extended best wishes to all the RSS employees on the occasion of the festivals and wished that may these festivals inspire the employees to further enhance their professional efficiency.
