Finance Minister discusses budget implementation

Newly appointed Finance Minister Janardan Sharma has assumed office today.

The government has held discussions with the secretaries of the line ministries for the effective implementation of the budget for the current fiscal year. Finance Minister Janardan Sharma Monday held a high-level discussion with the secretaries of the ministries on the implementation of the replacement budget.

The Finance Minister had introduced the replacement budget on September 10. The meeting held at the Ministry of Finance discussed the new programs in the replacement budget and the effective implementation of the projects, of the continuity of the previous budget.

Finance Minister Sharma directed the secretaries to prepare an immediate action plan on the basis of monthly work percentage-based a list of tasks assigned to them. He expressed his commitment that there would be no delay in the implementation of the budget and capital expenditure by the Ministry of Finance.

Minister Sharma directed his Ministry officials to expedite the process finalising the old file within seven days and the new file within three days.

Vice-Chair of National Planning Commission Dr Bishwanath Poudel said that all the ministries should work hard to achieve the target of seven percent economic growth set by the replacement budget.

Finance Secretary Madhu Kumar Marasini stressed the need to start work immediately by making a monthly action plan to make the implementation of the replacement budget effective as per the common minimum program of the coalition government.
