The government has published postage stamps in the name of social and literary personalities in recognition of their special contribution during their lifetime to the society.
The Department of Postal Service has issued stamps in the names of rights activist Padmaratna Tuladhar, writer Purna Prakash Nepal 'Yatri', mountaineer Angrita Sherpa, poet Madhav Prasad Devkota and singer Koili Devi. A stamp of 10 rupee denomination with their portrait has been published.
At a program held today Minister of Communications and Information Technology Rekha Sharma affixed the first cancellation mark on the first day cover of the postage stamps. With this, the sale of the stamps has begun from today. A total of 200,000 postage stamps have been published, according to Philatelic and Postal Stamp Management Office.
On the occasion, Minister Sharma lauded the contribution made by the five personalities to the Nepali society. Ministry officials and the family members of the aforementioned personalities were present in the program.
