KATHMANDU: Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana is set to visit China in preparation for Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's upcoming official trip.
According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs sources, Rana is scheduled to leave for China in the final week of November.
The visit is at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, and will focus on preparing the ground for the Prime Minister's visit.
Rana is also involved in coordinating the arrangements for the trip. Prime Minister Oli is expected to begin his official visit to China on December 1, though the Ministry has yet to issue an official announcement.
It remains unclear whether Rana will return to Nepal after her preparatory mission or if she will continue with the Prime Minister’s delegation.
This will be Rana’s first visit to China since becoming Foreign Minister, while Prime Minister Oli’s trip will mark his first foreign visit of his third term.
