Five former prime ministers have called upon the government to remain sensitive towards the impacts of prohibitory order imposed to contain COVID-19 on the underprivileged and working-class people, and ensure the due provision of the vaccine against COVID-19.
They have also urged the government to remain proactive to address the problems of diseases and hunger in the economically vulnerable class and community.
Former prime ministers Sher Bahadur Deuba, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhalanath Khanal and Baburam Bhattarai Saturday jointly issued a statement and appealed to the people to express their solidarity against the encroachment on constitutional provisions and fundamental principles of rule of law and democracy.
The former PMs have also drawn the attention of all to do away with the external forces’ direct or indirect intervention on Nepal’s internal politics while affirming that Nepalis were the sole deciders on Nepal’s fate and future.
Furthermore, the former PMs from four different political parties termed the government’s decision to export river products as an anti-national and anti-people step, adding that such a move was highly insensitive and would have a serious ecological impact on Nepal’s topography.
