The Land and Water Resources Management Office and Division Forest Office have started distributing free fruits and other multi-purpose plants to the farmers. The office has been distributing saplings to farmers to make the district self-sufficient in fruits.
The watershed management office is going to distribute 40,000 multi-purpose plants of different species produced in its nursery and brought from outside the district based on the demand of farmers. According to Senior Reservoir Management Officer Pushparaj Joshi, seedlings brought from outside the district and produced in the office nursery will be distributed in other districts including Achham and Bajura.
The plants started to be distributed free of cost including lemon, lychee, mango, cedar, lilac, Kalki, Kimbu, Koiralo, mango, nuts, spices and other fruits and herbs.
Similarly, the Forest Office has also started distributing fruit plants along with various species of plants, said Laxmi Raj Joshi, Assistant Forest Officer of the office. According to him, this time the office will distribute 6,000 saplings of orange, 3,200 lemons, 3,000 grapefruit, 500 lychees, 2,000 guavas and 1,000 jackfruits. The office has started distributing 15,700 fruit saplings at all nine local levels as per the action plan.
