The Ministry of Water Resources and Energy Development in Karnali Province is going to install technology to convert waste into energy. Minister Ganesh Prasad Singh informed that, budget has been allocated by the Ministry for this purpose, for the year 2079/080.
He said, "Energy is going to be extracted from waste, in order to produce electricity in all possible areas of Karnali."
According to Minister Singh, the ministry has allocated Rs. 2 million in the first phase. He said, "If this plan is successful, we will extend this technological service to other places as well, to generate electricity from waste."
Secretary of the Ministry, Devraj Niraula said, "This has been taken as the first exercise in Karnali. Basically, we are preparing a solar technology connection work on public private partnership (PPP) model.”
Gopal Sharma, head of the planning division of the ministry, informed that there are potential settlements and communities in Surkhet, West Rukum, Jumla, Jajarkot, Dalli, Kalimati and Salyan for energy production. He further stated that due to the increasing demand for electricity, and because the construction work of 1132 kV transmission line has not been completed, campaign has been started to provide electricity to the general public by various intense alternative ways.
