Gandaki Province announces public holiday on EID

The Gandaki Province has announced a public holiday across the Province today on the occasion of the Eid-Ul-Fitra, the greatest festival of the Muslims.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law said the notice towards this end has already been published in the national gazette of the Province Government.

Meanwhile, the District Administration Office (DAO) Kaski has extended the duration of prohibitory period against the Covid-19 pandemic by a week. Following the arrival of the second wave of COVID-19 with its new variant in the country, the DAO had first enforced the prohibitory period for a week beginning from April 28. Later it was extended till midnight of May 14 and it is the third time the order has been extended.

It means the order shall remain in effect from 5:00 am of May 15 till the midnight of May 21, said Chief District Officer Thaneshwor Gautam. The District COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre took a decision to this effect.

The DAO has appealed to public to stay in-door and not to go out except for an emergency purpose.
