General Secretaries of the Nepali Congress— Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma met party president and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba today.
During the meeting held at the official residence of the Prime Minister at Baluwatar, they discussed about the general convention of party's sister organizations and affiliation to State Partnership Program of the USA.
On the occasion, the general-secretaries urged the Prime Minister to build national consensus and write to the United States to never be the part of the SPP. "We urged the government not to participate in the SPP by fulfilling necessary procedures. We put forth our view before the Prime Minister to form a common view regarding foreign policy by taking all political parties including the main opposition into confidence," General-Secretary Sharma said.
They also requested the Prime Minister to create environment favorable to hold general convention of sister organizations which has not been organized since long.
Sharma shared, "We drew the attention of the party President regarding holding general convention of the sister organization which was said to be hold within six months. Except these, discussion was held on policy general convention, central committee meeting and formation of party's departments."
