German ambassador calls on Vice President

German Ambassador to Nepal, Dr Thomas Prinz, on Friday paid a courtesy call on Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav.

During the meeting held at the Vice President's Office in Lainchaur, the two discussed the matters relating to the diplomatic ties between Nepal and Germany.

On the occasion, the Vice President said Nepal and Germany have enjoyed cordial and friendly relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties between them in 1958. "Nepal accords top priority to its relations with Germany."

As the Vice President said high-level exchange visits at political and diplomatic levels, mutual cooperation, people-to-people relations, investment, trade and tourism are the bases of Nepal-Germany relations.

Describing Germany as a key development partner of Nepal, the Vice President acknowledged the German assistance to Nepal's socio-economic development since 1961.

He also recalled the German assistance to Nepal during COVID-19 pandemic.

"Germany has its influential presence in the European Union," he said while welcoming the cooperation between Nepal and the EU.

The Vice President said Nepal is committed to achieving the goals of sustainable peace, stability and development, expressing optimism to see continuity of the assistance from Germany towards that end.

Applauding the achievement of Germany in the area of climate change, the Vice President hoped to see continued cooperation between the two nations in the bilateral and multilateral fronts.

On the occasion, the ambassador pledged to continue the German assistance to Nepal in energy, tourism and industrial sectors for Nepal's peace and political stability.

He also shared the plan of the German government to increase the number of Nepali citizens selected for vocational training in Germany. The number will reach 500 in the days to come, according to the ambassador.
