Saraswati Basic School, a community school in Rolpa Municipality-2 Deurali, has started selling ginger produced to run the school.
Chairman of the school management committee Jag Bahadur Wali said "We have been distributing ginger planted last year after seeing problems in running the school due to lack of funds.". According to him, half of the produced ginger will be distributed as gift and half will be sold in the market.
"We have estimated that 10 quintals of ginger will be produced this year," said Hom Bahadur Khadka, a teacher at the school. The school has been distributing the produced ginger to educational institutions, other government, and non-government offices and traders in the district headquarters Liwang. According to Khadka, the school has been distributing ginger to promote the school and to raise funds.
The school has planned to sell the remaining ginger in the market. The school has come up with such a plan after problems arose in the management of salaries of teachers working from private sources.
