Govt to formulate necessary plan for development: PM Deuba

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the government is committed to formulate necessary action plan for the rapid development of the backward states with the cooperation of all three levels of government. Speaking at a program organized on the occasion of the 11th general assembly of the Far West Concern Forum here today, he expressed confidence that every effort and suggestions of the forum would be helpful to the federal government and state governments in formulating, implementing and evaluating development plans.

Prime Minister Deuba recalled that after passing SLC from Uchkot School in Doti, he traveled to Dhangadhi for higher education and reached Kathmandu by train across the border via Raxaul. That place was connected to the central capital by transport. However, despite many possibilities, relatively little development has taken place. Stating that the contribution of all is needed along with the efforts of the government to eradicate poverty and inequality in the region, he informed that an agreement has been reached with India to build a dry port on the Kanchanpur border which would prove to be a cornerstone for the development of Suup. Stating that foreign investment should be brought in for rapid development, Prime Minister Deuba said that the government has adopted a policy accordingly.

Stating that the Far Western Province needs to be at the forefront of the Human Development Index, he said that for this, everyone needs to coordinate and cooperate from their respective places.

The Far West Concern Forum has been making various efforts for the development of the Suup sector for the last 16 years. Selfless for the all-round development of the Far Western Province, carrying out its duty towards the motherland, it has published the necessary roadmap book for the development of the entire province. On behalf of the forum, Chairman Bishnu Prasad Khatri handed over a memorandum to Prime Minister Deuba with suggestions for the development and prosperity of the Suup.
