Dil Kumari Rawal Thapa, President of the National Concern and Coordination Committee under the House of Representatives said that the government should be held accountable to the parliamentary committees.
In the meeting of the Committee convened on Wednesday, President Thapa rued that the instructions, recommendations and decisions given by the Committee to the ministries within its jurisdictions were far from implementation.
According to her, the Committee's members and parliamentarians should play a strong role to make the parliamentary delivery further effective.
"If the deliberation towards this end starts now, signs of change or reforms could be felt over the period of time."
On the occasion, Thapa said that they would hold deliberation with parliamentarians of the National Assembly regarding the effectiveness of parliamentary committees.
She however said there was a problem for monitoring and evaluation in lack of guidelines. There should be a debate about the Lokpal structure.
The participants in the meeting discussed the mandate of the parliamentary committee, checklist for monitoring and evaluation and management of complaints.
