The government will be making the Economic Survey public today. This year the survey will be announced with just a few people in attendance at the Finance Ministry.
Due to the second wave of the coronavirus and the prohibitory orders in place the Economic Survey will be made public with just a few officials and photo journalists in attendance, the Finance Ministry informed. Other journalists have been asked to join the meeting through Zoom.
The ministry has also informed that once the Economic Survey is made public it will be uploaded in the ministry’s website. During the announcement of the survey the ministry will also make public the annual reports of the public organisations.
The Economic Survey and the annual reports of public organisations will be made public by Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel.
The practice in Nepal is that before the government announces the budget for the next fiscal year it makes public the Economic Survey of the country. The Economic Survey is basically a report of the economic situation of the first eight months of the current fiscal year.
