The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation has started an initiative for the proper use of Godswa obtained by protecting Guthi land in the country.

Since Guthi is a historically important area connected with religious aspects, the Ministry has started effective initiatives for land conservation and systematic records to increase the effectiveness of use.

The Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Damodar Regmi, informed that the discussion has been started with the aim of making the land management agile and transparent by making the people who have been paying Godswa using Guthi land, aware of their ownership. Recently, the ministry has discussed with the stakeholders of Amarnarayan Guthi in Janakpur, Dhading and Palpa and officials of Guthi Institute.

The Ministry has instructed the Guthi Institute to do homework quickly to find a suitable solution by interacting with the stakeholders regarding the historical aspect of Guthi, its value, recognition, legal system and public concerns. Secretary Regmi said that the Guthi Institute will submit a report within a few days based on the discussion with the stakeholders.

Regarding the historical importance of Amarnarayan Guthi's land in Tansen Palpa and people's participation in it, MP Narayan Acharya and former MP Kul Prasad Nepal, who represented Palpa, were of the opinion that it would be appropriate to implement the recommendations given by the Natural Resources Committee of the Parliament. Administrator of Guthi Institute Kiran Shakya said that due to lack of new Guthi Act, it is difficult to address such issues.
