Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa has said that the government would form talks team to hold discussions on the demands put forth by the Tharu community.
Receiving a memorandum from Tharu Welfare Society, Tharuhat-Tharuwan Joint Struggle Committee Central Agitation Mobilization Committee on Thursday, Minister Thapa said that the government was serious towards resolving the 19-point demands including that of Tikapur case put forth by Tharu community.
Minister Thapa was of the view that the issues would be resolved at the best possible time.
Saying that the Netra Bikram Chand-led party joined the peaceful politics through the talks, Minister Thapa pledged to resolve the issues of Tharu community also through dialogues.
The Committee's members are staging sit in at Maitighar Mandala demanding release of Tharu Welfare Society's Chairman Dhaniram Chaudhari, Resham Chaudhary and others; declaration of martyrs to those killed in Tharuhat movement among others.
