The State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the House of Representatives (HoR) has instructed the government to book those involved in unusual price hike of goods and black-marketing as the supplies of substandard goods was belittling public health concerns.

A meeting of the Committee asked the government on Thursday to carry out market monitoring to curb the illegal acts including relabeling the expiry dates and supplying date expired goods.

Minister for Home Affairs Bal Krishna Khand also attended the Committee meeting.

The meeting presided over by Committee Chairperson Shashi Shrestha said that the government was asked to book the wrongdoers even by amending the legal provisions if needed.

Likewise, the Committee has expressed its serious concern about the missing of Jaya Singh Dhami of Byas Rural Municipality-2 in Darchula district while crossing the Mahakali River from tuin, a wire bridge.

The government has been further instructed to immediately release the status report about the disappearance of Dhami.

According to Shrestha, the Committee urged the government to construct necessary infrastructures including bridges, roads, and others for the security of local residents of the area.

Similarly, the Committee has expressed its displeasure for the absence of a factual report on the murder of Nirmala Panta of Kanchanpur district after her rape some three years ago.
