The 6th Annual General Meeting of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) Nepal concluded in Kathmandu.
The organization elected a new 9-member executive committee chairman Ramesh Prasad Dawadi for the next three years. The new board was formed through an electoral process among 12 competitors which includes Ramesh Prasad Dawadi as President, Santaman Maharjan as Secretary, and Om Prakash Ghimire as Treasurer. Other members of the board are Rajan Joshi, Vijay Kumar Shahi, Virendra Mahato, Santa Bahadur Gurung, Meena Lama, and Pabitra Thapaliya.
Ramesh Prasad Dawadi, the newly elected President, informed that the 11-member working committee includes provisions for a representative from UNESCO Nepal and the immediate past president.
President Ramesh Prasad Dawadi emphasized that despite the increasing number of museums and visitors in Nepal, the professional development of museums has not kept pace. Therefore, ICOM Nepal will take the initiative to address this issue.
