Home Minister and Chairman of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Executive Committee, Bal Krishna Khan, has instructed the thematic bodies and security officials to be serious in preparing and responding to reduce the loss of life and property due to the monsoon-induced disaster.
At the 13th meeting of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Executive Committee held today, Minister Khan also directed to submit a detailed action plan to the ministry in writing today with details of preparations for this year, manpower status and resources.
The meeting has discussed in detail the agenda including Monsoon Preparedness and Response National Action Plan 2022. At the meeting, Minister for Health and Population Virodh Khatiwada suggested that the emergency contact numbers of the responsible bodies be communicated to the public.
Minister for Urban Development Ram Kumari Jhankri said that disaster-related issues should be included in integrated development. Chief Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi stressed on the need for coordination among the bodies from bottom to top in rescue and relief and provision of adequate equipment in strategic places.
During the meeting, secretaries of various ministries, heads and representatives of security agencies, representatives of Nepal Red Cross Society and Nepal Chamber of Commerce briefed about the state of disaster preparedness and response plan.
