A three-day international conference on lightning and mitigating its impacts is taking place in Nepal from today onward. Around 100 theme experts from different countries, including Nepal are participating in the conference to be held in Lalitpur.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Narayan Kaji Shrestha will inaugurate the conference where 44 research papers will be presented, informed lightning expert Prof Dr Shreeram Sharma.
Experts from India, the United States, Brazil, France, Sweden, Israel, Australia, Bangladesh and Pakistan are attending the conference.
The conference will discuss the status of lightning in the world, efforts made towards its prevention and the topics to be addressed by policy-makers. Dr Sharma said the conference will mainly chalk out strategies to support policy-making.
