According to the Public Health Office, Jhapa, there is no COVID-19 infection in the district.
According to the office, not a single person has been infected with the virus since March 25. Ishwori Poudel, immunization officer, said that even though five to six people were tested daily at the Mechi Zonal Hospital and Kankai Lab, no test was found to be positive. "Some of the suspects come for swab test but the report is negative," she said. She said that the antigen test of those entering Nepal from the border is being conducted regularly.
In Jhapa, 662 people have lost their lives so far from COVID-19. She said that 99,576 people of 12 to 17 years have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus in the district while 685,300 people above 18 years of age have been fully vaccinated. She also informed that a vaccination campaign against typhoid is being conducted in all the municipalities of the district at present.
