National Assembly (NA) Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Timilsina said the role of media workers should be independent in a true sense.
Inaugurating the seventh general convention of the Broadcasting Association of Nepal (BAN) – a standard organization of commercial radios, today, he highlighted the independent role of the journalism sector.
"Journalists may have different political orientations but should not be part of the mission to finish off another political faith", he added.
He advised journalists to practice free and independent journalism to overcome challenges. He also urged the media fraternity not to push the media house to politics.
NA Chair Timilsina stressed the need to pick leadership on consensus so that s/he can drive the institution independently.
With the efforts being made to pick a new leadership on consent fails, BAN is going for a voting process on Sunday to choose the administration.
The general convention would elect 25 member working committee including the chair, senior vice-chair, vice-chairs, general secretary, secretary, treasurer, province coordinator and central members.
