Karnali Province Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi has instructed to complete the construction of motorable Khulalu Bridge on time.

Inspecting the under-construction bridge at Khulalu under the Karnali Corridor on Sunday, CM Shahi directed to construct the two-lane motorable bridge at the earliest.

The Karnali Province government has allocated Rs 1.2 billion for the Khulalu Bridge which connects Surkhet to Khulalu in Kalikot district.

Although the construction work was expedited prior to the outbreak of second wave of COVID-19, following the outbreak, the construction process had hit a snag, informed chief personal secretary to the chief minister, Krishna Prasad Acharya.

Also, an engineer’s demise and another employee’s death also had caused delay in the construction of the Bridge which is considered to be a lifeline to the Karnali Province, said Acharya.

The bridge over the Karnali River will link Shuvakalika Rural Municipality in Kalikot district to Naraharinath Rural Municipality in Karnali district. Furthermore, Surkhet district will be connected to Humla district through road link.

CM Shahi on Monday took stock of the COVID-19 response efforts in the Province in a meeting with the District Crisis Management Committee, Kalikot and instructed the staffers to actively work to prevent, control the pandemic and to treat the infected ones, informed Acharya.
