At least 17 people were killed in a bus accident at Bethanchowk, Sallathed in Kavrepalanchowk on Tuesday evening. Police informed that around a dozen of people were injured when a bus (Ba 3 Kha 4385) met with the tragic accident.
Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Dhundi Raj Neupane said 15 persons died on the spot and two during treatment at Banepa-based Scheer Memorial Hospital.
The reserve bus was heading to Bethanchowk rural municipality-5 from Banepa-11 after attending a ceremony, said Chairperson of Bethanchowk rural municipality, Bhagawan Adhikari.
Similarly as many as a dozen of people were injured in the same incident. Of them, eight are receiving treatment at Scheer Memorial Hospital while five others at Dhulikhel Hospital.
Most of the injured are in critical condition, Neupane informed. Nepal Police and Nepali Army were carrying out rescue operations on the spot, it was shared.
The identity of the deceased has not been ascertained yet.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has directed the bodies concerned to carry out rescue of the injured immediately.
Home Minister Khand asked the Home Administration, Chief District Officer of Kavre, Humkala Pandey and District Police Chief, Chakra Raj Joshi, to make arrangement to take the injured to hospital. ---
