The kidney transplant service is to be started in Karnali. An agreement in this regard was signed between Bhaktapur National Transplant Center and Karnali State Hospital Surkhet under the Ministry of Health and Population on Thursday.
The agreement has been signed by Dr. Pukar Chandra Shrestha, Executive Director of the Transplant Center, and Dr. Dambar Khadka, Director of Karnali State Hospital. Prada Khadka, director of the state hospital Surkhet, informed that an agreement has been reached to start kidney transplantation in the state hospital Surkhet within the current fiscal year. It is said that an agreement has been reached to expand the dialysis service in the hospitals under the state hospital.
The people of Karnali are happy with the initiative and plan of launching specialist and large-scale services at the Provincial Hospital Surkhet in Kalagaun, the capital of Karnali. The Karnali government's only major health infrastructure, the state hospital, is expected to ensure its citizens' right to health care as it expands its services.
With the introduction of complex human organ transplant services from Karnali State Hospital Surkhet for the first time, kidney patients will be able to get treatment easily and the financial burden will be lessened. The state hospital has stated that they will no longer have to take kidney treatment services from outside the state.
