4-member delegation from the National Assembly of Korea visited Nepal from 19 to 22 August. The delegation is composed of Lee Sangheon (Korea-Nepal Parliamentary Friendship Group President), An Byunggil (Korea-Nepal Parliamentary Friendship Group Member), Lee Hackyoung (Korea-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group President), and Kim Byungjoo (Korea-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group Vice President).
On August 21, the delegation paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nepal, Agni Prasad Sapkota, and exchanged views on the current situation and future opportunities for cooperation between the two countries, including high-level visits as well as people-to-people exchanges.
In addition, the delegation met with Korean businessmen and representatives of the Korean community in Nepal, and appreciated their contribution and efforts in maintaining amicable relations between Korea and Nepal. The delegation also mentioned they look forward to continuous efforts made by the Korean community to further promote bilateral cooperation in various fields.
The delegation also visited the "Nepal Korea Friendship Municipality Hospital", established through KOICA with the support of the Korean government in 2008, and held a meeting with hospital and municipality officials, which include the Executive Director of the Hospital Gyan K. Kayastha and the Mayor of Thimi Municipality Surendra Shrestha. They discussed the current operation of the hospital and its plans, and the Korean delegation wished for the successful completion of KOICA's 2nd phase of the project, which is an expansion of the hospital from 2022 to 2027.
Lee Sangheon, the President of Korea-Nepal Parliamentary Friendship Group, had a meeting with 5 Mayors and municipality Chairpersons who were former migrant workers to Korea. Participants shared their working experience in Korea and discussed ways to contribute to the development of Nepal as returnee workers in the future.
